Paris is synonymous with romantic ideals and many think it should be nicknamed the City of Love. Thousands of lovers flock to Paris each year to visit bucket-list sights such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Notre-Dame. We’ve put together a list of some lesser known, must have experiences in Paris, that can be accomplished in one romantic weekend.
Dinner with a View
Dinner on the Eiffel Tower is something many people dream of but if you forgot to make a reservation, you might not be completely out of luck. Enjoy the incredible view from one of Paris’ many rooftop bars and restaurants. More often than not, they feature romantic touches like candles, fire places, and gardens. Check out Terass” Restaurant on top of the Terass Hotel. This restuarant boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor patio and porch swings.
Uncover Paris’ Hidden Gardens
Did you know the city of Paris is filled with hidden parks and courtyards? At the end of the Ile de la Cite lies Le Square du Vert-Galant is a picturesque garden that is the perfect location for an afternoon picnic in the shade beneath the weeping willow trees. Take in the awe-inspiring views of the River Sein and watch swans pass by as time seems to stand still. The Jardines des Archives Nationales are hidden gardens within the National Archives Museum with a network of many interlocking paths, shady trees, flower beds and benches.
Winetasting at City Vineyards
Paris used to be one of the top wine producers in the country but today only a few small vineyards still lie within city limits. Butte Bergeyre is an area almost forgotten. If you’re looking for solitude away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this charming town offers some much needed peace and quiet. With only around 1200 residents, the hilltop village of Butte Bergeyre offers views of Paris’ last remaining vineyards and a jaw dropping view of Montmartre and Sacre Coeur. Clos de Montmarte holds an annual five-day grape harvest festival and several other events throughout the year that fund the preservation of the winery.
